Module Learning Strategies
There are two delivery patterns for this course though teaching and learning strategies are alike in both cases.
The module is delivered through either a 4 day block of intensive workshops or through a traditional delivery based on 9 x 2 hour sessions along with individual/group tutorial sessions. A variety of learning and teaching methods are used such as presentations by specialist practitioners, group discussions, case studies, problem based learning activities and student centred investigations. There is a strong emphasis on activity-focused learning and participants are expected to actively engage in all sessions.
In addition participants are required to engage in independent study in order to consolidate and build upon their learning from the taught sessions. This takes the form of undertaking follow-up tasks and work based self assessments, and, where appropriate, reading key texts and journal articles. Observation of the participants teaching is a mandatory part of this module.
